Vission
"Barangay La Fortuna is a good blessed land, fortunate with rich
adorable and fertile by the sun and the golden harvest, home to a
community of self-reliant well disciplined, peace-loving, god fearing and
pro-active people, living in a secured, well balanced and climate change
adaptive environment, governed by a responsible, trusted and effective
leaders on making the barangay more vibrant and a better place to live in."
History of La Fortuna
In the advent offore-fathers, coming from other places of the Phillippines, in
the year of 1947, come in this place with other few natives, makes friends and live
happily. Until such time they named the place La Fortuna. Refferring for its good
fortune, and then La Fortuna know of its kind. So full of natural resources. Its
production were composed of rice, corn, coconut, banana, sugarcane, and even
the first class sand and gravel. La Fortuna is composed of 777 hectares, with 1307 population
La Fortuna's native are mostly ilonggo , where in ilonggo has many roots such as
Karay-a Miag-awanon, Tubunganon, and antiqueno. And its has also a little part of Cebuano
In terms of cultural aspect, La Fortunians are living what typical Filipino is.
However, its spiritual aspect, they are religous as what Roman Catholic was. They are
celebrating teo fiesta a year i center alone. Honoring San Vicente Ferrer for
the month of April and San Nicolas de Tolentino for he month of September. For its sitio
Upper La Fortuna is celebrating feast of Santo Rosario for the month of October, and
along boundary of La Fortuna, Palma-Perez, they are celebrating feast of San
Antonio Abad for the month of January
In 1952, political Aspect has grown up in the midst of La Fortunians. The first Tenyente
del Barrio, we called Barangay Captain nowadays was in the person of Mr. Pelegrin
Palencia. He end up his service in 1956 to a certain Danilo Vegelante, also a
pioneering of the place. He serve for 4 years and turn over the position in year 1960 to Mr.
Honorario Perez Sr. who end up his position in year 1964 to Mr. Raymundo Quibingco,
he served the barangay for 2 years and turn over to Mr. Rizaldo Sanchez. For 22
22 years Mr. Sanchez served the barangay. In year 1986 he turn over his chairmanship again to
Mr. Raymundo Quibingco, that was the year of Edsa Revolution Year 1987, Officer in
charge take place Mr. Fred Guillermo and end up his position in 1989. The snap
election come in, the energetic Josue Palomar seated as Barangay Captain. He served the Barangay
for six years in the time of crisis , but then La Fortuna survived. In year 1994,
the son of late Barangay Captain Mr. Honorario Perez Sr, Mr. Eddie R. Perez take
place the administration, in year 1995 Barangay La Fortuna celebrated its 1st Anniversay Celebration
with a theme "Tulong-tulong na Pagsisikap at Pagkakaisa para sa Maunlad at Ma
sayang Barangay tungo sa Taong Dalawang Libo." For the year 1996, Barangay La Fortuna
celebrates its 44th years Foundation and 2nd Anniversary Celebration with a theme: "Pa-ulogyon nga may
Kalig-on my Kalambuan." In the year 2007, Barangay Captain Eddie R. Perez end
up his position. And from said year to 2018 Hon. Nelson E. Sumatra serves as Punong
Barangay. Then Hon. Eddie R. Perez elected again as Punong Barangay from year 2018 up to present. At pre-
sent Barangay La Fortuna looking forward for the years to come and will still
remain for it's kind.
